How to install LAMP Stack on Ubuntu

There’s a great walkthrough on how to set up Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP on Ubuntu here. But for brevity’s sake here’s a shortened version

Install Apache

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apache2

Install MySQL

sudo apt-get install mysql-server libapache2-mod-auth-mysql php5-mysql

Activate MySQL

sudo mysql_install_db
sudo /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation

Install PHP

sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-mcrypt

Restart Apache

sudo service apache2 restart

Install phpMyAdmin

Once again there’s a detailed walkthrough of this here.

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
sudo nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

Add the phpmyadmin config to the file.

Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf

Restart Apache

sudo service apache2 restart

Hi Mark, I had to exactly the same on my own ubuntu server the other day, and I used the following post to fix the phpmyadmin special features warning:

    Hope it helps.
